Data sources and verification

Federal opportunities are retrieved from the official Grants.gov Search and Opportunity APIs. For each opportunity we store the opportunity number, agency, status, posted and closing dates, award floor and ceiling, expected number of awards, Assistance Listing (CFDA) numbers, eligible applicant types, cost-sharing requirement, and the URL of the official announcement.

This product uses the Grants.gov API but is not endorsed or certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Search results are cached for a short period to stay within reasonable API usage, and any opportunity you open is re-fetched from the source. Each record displays the timestamp at which it was retrieved. Closing dates and eligibility text can change — always confirm against the official announcement before submitting.

If Grants.gov cannot be reached, Meem shows a clear message that verified data is temporarily unavailable. We never substitute sample, placeholder, or generated opportunities for real ones.

Additional sources are planned. They will only appear once they can be retrieved from an authoritative feed with the same traceability, and each will be labeled with its own source name and retrieval time.

Match scores are produced by a transparent rules-based model that compares your organization profile to structured fields on the opportunity: eligible applicant types, program alignment, award size versus your requested amount, deadline feasibility, and registration readiness. Every score is accompanied by the specific reasons behind it. A score is guidance, not a determination of eligibility.
